KARACHI: The Pakistan cricket team landed in Karachi unannounced on Saturday night after a disastrous tour of Australia in which they lost all matches.

The cricketers were ushered out of the Haj terminal instead of the Jinnah terminal and security officials even tried to shield them from the media. Journalists, however, managed to get hold of Intikhab Alam and throw some probing questions at the hapless coach.

“I will put down the miserable performance to poor shot selection and pathetic catching.”

Nevertheless, in an attempt to paper over the hammering, Intikhab said: “It must be remembered that Pakistan have never fared any better in Australia.”

Shoaib Malik, who captained the team in the only Twenty20 match of the tour on Friday, did his best to dodge the media.

Skipper Mohammad Yousuf, Younus Khan and Shahid Afridi had returned home earlier during the week.

Pakistan lost all three test matches, five one-dayers and the lone Twenty20 on the forgettable tour Down Under.
