ISLAMABAD: Many legislators have businesses and houses in other parts of the world worth millions of dollars. Going through the filed statements of assets of members of the National Assembly, dozens of names appear to have either a foreign business or own houses abroad.

Arbab Alamgir Khan and his spouse Asma Alamgir Arbab (MNA on reserved seat) of the Pakistan People’s Party, who have declared themselves as billionaires, own an apartment in Marina Dubai worth Rs 30,000,000. Makhdoom of Hala, Amin Fahim owns an apartment number 217, Al-Dahsara-2, Greens, Dubai, the UAE. This apartment is valued at 2.2 million dirham.

National Assembly Speaker Dr Fehmida Mirza has mentioned in her assets declaration that she has paid an advance amount of Rs 7,300,000 against an overseas apartment. Sherry Rehman’s spouse also owns a residential apartment in London worth Rs 59,078,800 approximately and Farahnaz Isphahani has an apartment number 3005, 4301 Massachusetts Avenue, Washington DC 20036 worth $675,000.

Justice (Retd) Fakharunnisa Khokhar owns a shop measuring 236 sq ft in Dubai, which is worth Rs 1,350,000 (instalments). Engineer Usman Khan Tarkai has one house in Doha, Qatar, which is valued at Rs15,000,000. Munir Khan Orakzai has an investment of $225,000 in transport business in Doha, Qatar.

Muhammad Jamil Malik owns a house in Rotterdam, Holland, valued at 60,249 euros. He also has a shop worth 250,000 euro and an investment of one million euros in food business in Netherlands. His outlet is named Malik Eastern Food Netherlands.

Khwaja Muhammad Asif has an investment of $25,000 in Zen Japanees Rest. He has also brought $88,243 in Pakistan as remittances. Chaudhry Iftikhar Nazir has an investment of Rs 41,002,500 in Welcon International and Weal Ag Cooperation.

Zahid Iqbal owns a house in London worth 900,000 pounds and a restaurant and property business in London with 2 million pounds investment. Chaudhry Nazir Ahmad Jatt has an investment of $0.5 million in Eihar Construction, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Dr Talat Iqbal Mahesar owns an apartment in Houston, USA, worth $55,000. Sohail Mansoor Khwaja has Lot number 18, Craneborne Chase, White Church Stoufville, Canada, which is worth Canadian $320,000. He also owns Unit number 12, 9088 Halston Court, Burnby, BC, Canada. His unit is worth Canadian $470,000.

Farhat Muhammad Khan has a house number 21744, Marigot Dr Boca Raton Fl-33428-USA worth $900,000. He has an investment of $550,000 in Petroleum Cord, 4400 Federal Hwy Ft Lauderdale, FL USA. Anousha Rehman owns a house in UK worth Rs50 million and Begum Ishrat Ashraf and her spouse have a flat in the UK valued at Rs 9,020,000.
