President Supreme Court Bar Association Qazi Anwar

ISLAMABAD: Reiterating his earlier stance, President Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA), Qazi Anwar, said the parliament does not have the right to appoint judges.

Speaking to journalists on Wednesday, Anwar said the parliament should be supreme and the judiciary independent. Thus, the parliament should not tread into the judiciary’s ambit and scope.

Comparing the different institutions of the state, Anwar said if the parliament was truly supreme then why did it not try to interfere in the appointments made inside the GHQ.
