Asif Ali Zardari

LAHORE: A petition has been filed in Lahore Registry of Supreme Court on Saturday for withdrawal of the court orders about reopening of the Swiss cases against President Asif Ali Zardari. Petitioner Barrister Zafarullah in his plea argued that under Article 248 of the constitution the President of Pakistan enjoys immunity in criminal cases requesting the court to review its verdict.

All institutions should respect the constitution and the apex court orders to the National Accountability Bureau about reopening of the cases against the President should be withdrawn, the petition said. The petitioner added that in many countries including Pakistan, the president is immune to the criminal cases and no action could be taken against them till 5 years in office.
